La Casa del Flamenco is located in the heart of the Barrio de Santa Cruz and the Jewish quarter, the old Jewish quarter of Seville. In this area are the two most important monuments of Seville, the Cathedral and the Alcazar, and also has a maze of cobblestone streets and typical Andalusian houses. Within this historical framework La Casa del Flamenco offers shows every night in the main courtyard of an old palace of the fifteenth century. This family business offers reasonable prices, including discounts for students and children.
Seats are located around the courtyard which allows a good view of the stage to enjoy the intensity and excitement of the show. Each night, two dancers, a singer and a guitarist perform several popular dances and songs, as well as a guitar solo, all without microphones or amplifiers for a natural and authentic sound. The one-hour performance covers a number of different flamenco palos. La Casa del Flamenco also has a wide range of nationally and internationally recognised artists, such as the dancer Patricia Guerrero, who has just won the Giraldillo for Best Show at the 2016 Seville Flamenco Biennial. Guitarist Eugenio Iglesias has accompanied dancers such as Farruco, José Galván and Manuela Carrasco, among others.
The original house dates from the 15th century and was restored two centuries later when it became the home of Justino de Neve, canon of the Cathedral of Seville, and patron and friend of the painter Murillo. What stands out about the house is the central courtyard, with almost six centuries of history. The marble arches and columns, coffered ceilings and traditional tiles create a wonderful backdrop for exhibiting the art of flamenco in Seville. The location and surroundings, along with authentic flamenco, offer a unique way to enjoy the spirit of Andalusia.
